In 2014, in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which displaced thousands of Jews, our community founded the refugee village of Anativka near Kyiv.
The House of Hope Anatevka has been operating since 2015 as a shelter for people who have lost their homes due to war and crisis situations. Here, refugees, the elderly, large families and the needy receive not only a roof over their heads and kosher food, but also psychological support, legal assistance and the opportunity for social adaptation.
Our camp is based on the principle of a big family, where everyone finds understanding, support and hope for a better future. The House of Hope has hosted thousands of internally displaced persons from different regions, becoming a symbol of unity and mutual assistance in difficult times for Ukraine.
In response to the Russian invasion in 2022, given Anatevka's strategic location far from Russian attack targets, the village quickly became a bridgehead and operational headquarters for our humanitarian efforts. Some of the elderly people who now live in Anatevka are third-time war refugees, having lived through the Holocaust, the conflict in eastern Ukraine in 2015, and now the Russian-Ukrainian war of 2022. Today, we are working on community reconstruction and beautification in Anatevka.
